It is a sad reality that wheels and tire maintenance is the more often than not the last thing on a driver’s mind. What normally happens is that, you would direct the hose to roof of the vehicle, pick up a sponge and use to scrub on the windshield, windows and other body parts, but not the wheels. Worse, you wouldn’t even bother about wheel and tire protection. Why bother anyway on something that often gets dirty, right? Well, skipping your vehicle’s wheels and tires is actually a mistake. In fact, that’s where anything goes wrong. A bad tire leads to disaster! Besides it weakens auto performance and ride control, it is also a safety issue. You should always remember that tires, when properly inflated can help you save gas by reducing drag.

So never forget the wheel and tire care! Inspect them once in a while. Besides keeping the tires well-inflated, you need to do some cleaning, too. Here are simple procedures for the job.

1. Start with the tires. You can use the same car soap you used on the body kit or you can buy a separate car wash cleaner for the tires-either way is fine

2. Using the water hose, wash the tires thoroughly. If you don’t have one, a bucket of water will do. Then, take a brush with tough bristles and scrub generously on the tires. Remove all dirt and grime from between the crevices before moving on.

3. Next, apply the car soap when the tires are already clean. Scrub thoroughly and alternate between scrubbing and hosing to get the tires all nice and cleaned up

4. If necessary, move the car to get the hard to reach areas. You also need to check the traction by feeling the surface of the tires. If it feels worn out, it’s time to get new tires.

Without a good set of wheels, your vehicle will appear like a piece of junk. Hence, you shouldn’t be interested only on getting the coolest body kit, the fastest acceleration time and the perfect suspension. You should also think about the quality of the tires and getting a good grip on the road. Remember, a faulty set of tires not only endangers the car; it also invites road hazards to get closer. So think about it!
